Somethings Seventeen
ThrilledCraig was here and we all went to a concert in which Katelyn had a lovely duet (she has such an incredibly lovely voice; blows me away every time).
Anyway.
As of about nine o'clock yesterday morning, the second of December, 2008, i am officially seventeen years of age.
So around about 2 in the morning of my birthday, waiting for Craig to get out of the shower and text me back, i decided to make a list.
Oooh, a list!
i do love lists, almost as much as i love stacks and piles of things.
However, this is no ordinary list, aho no. This is a list that condenses the vast number of things i learned as a sixteen-year-old (more things than all of my previous years combined) into a list of sixteen things (in seemingly no particular order).
Crazy, huh?
SO. Without further ado..

In the sixteenth year of my existence, i have learned that...
1. Potentially terrifying experiences are not necessarily terrible experiences (and can turn out to be pretty wonderful).
2. Life can completely change in less than a week or less than a minute, whether by one person or one decision.
3. My primary Love Language is, without a doubt, Words of Affirmation.
4. To effectively fight for what you believe in, you have to be willing to listen to the other side.
5. 'License' is not spelled 'licsence' or 'licsensce'. (Thank you, drivers ed.)
6. Love is often hardly the fairy tail it's supposed to be, but it is worth every ache and pain.
7. Crying is very necessary when it comes to certain things. Sometimes a lot.
8. i have an incredible ability to recall minute details of events involving certain people, even if it was something that happened half a year ago.
9. Art is a force of life, and a mighty one at that.
10. Some moments, all you need is a best friend who will hug you tightly and not tell you she told you so.
11. i fully and completely adore strawberry Pop-Tarts (frosted, of course).
12. The same goes for Spaghetti-O's.
13. Life isn't always so sweet, and sometimes it is completely and totally the fault of your very own self.
14. Kissing is every bit as wonderful as i always hoped it would be (as is the golf course upon which i reside).
15. God is always fully here for me, even when i neglect Him. (Ironically enough, those are the times i realize i need Him most. Funny how life works out.)
16. i am very much an imperfect person, in many different ways; bad and good, odd and unique.
And one to grow on:
17. i am a mess. But people seem to like me anyway.

So yep. It's been an eventful twelve months, to say the least. And the next twelve should be at least equally eventful, now that i'm (sort of) driving.
i'm going to miss being sixteen. Sweet sixteen and all.
But i'm looking forward to being seventeen.

The second I saw you had a new journal, I had to get my mind to think "OREO'S BIRTHDAY IS IN DECEMBER!" And then I was like.. the SECOND!
....today is the third.
How could I have missed it!?
Ugh. Too much stuff goin' on through my mind! Luckily I am doing MUCH better for WHO KNOWS WHY (well, actually, I'd say God).

It was a great year. Plus, you went to my 17th birthday..
I'd visit you if there were possibilities. But eventually I will be able to go! Sooon.

I feel like we're so behind on each other's lives, that we'd need a whole week to talk about it to catch up!
And you already know you and I can talk forever and get off topic so many times while laying in the driveway, looking up at the stars that are hard to see due to all the lights in the town and the bright ones RIGHT NEXT TO MY FREAKIN' HOUSE.
I miss and luff that night. Hehe.
